China-Tanzania job fair boosts youth employment
(MENAFN) On a bright Saturday morning, hundreds of young Tanzanian university graduates, vocational students, and professionals gathered at the Chinese-built library of the University of Dar es Salaam, eager to explore career possibilities with Chinese and Chinese-Tanzanian joint ventures.
Equipped with resumes and job applications, attendees endured the heat to participate in the 4th China-Tanzania Job Fair, which marked the largest event of its kind so far. Approximately 100 Chinese companies took part, offering hundreds of job openings across various industries.
Set amid the growing partnership between China and Tanzania, the fair sought to serve as a platform for young talent to launch their careers, gain valuable skills, and contribute to the country’s progress through international collaboration.
Upendo Swai, 25, who recently graduated in shipping and port logistics management from the National Institute of Transport, arrived early, hopeful of securing a role with a Chinese shipping company. “I've been interviewed by four Chinese companies. I feel optimistic,” she shared. “Working with Chinese firms is a great chance to learn discipline and strong work ethics.”
Likewise, 28-year-old Robert Salvatory Lusawa, a graduate of Chongqing Vocational Institute of Engineering, called the fair a vital link to employment opportunities.
